components of figure skating training.
Talento Athlete Development Support offers young figure skaters and their families access to essential online training resources through a focused series of educational sessions. Each session is led by professionals and covers key areas of athlete development, including nutrition, ballet, mental health, off-ice jumps, conditioning, training mindset, and flexibility. Together, these sessions are designed to support each skater's foundation across essential aspects of their training journey.
ONLINE SESSIONS
Performance Nutrition Coach
This workshop provides practical guidance for skaters and parents on how to support energy, growth, and performance through nutrition. We'll address common challenges and confusion around what to eat to enhance competition performance and everyday training endeavors. You'll leave with tools that are easy to implement and make a real difference on the ice.
Practitioner and Teacher of Ballet for Figure Skaters
Lessons on the fundamentals of classical Vaganova ballet methodology, adapted to the needs of figure skaters. This lesson is focused on correcting posture and alignment, learning biomechanically sound movement patterns and proper muscular activation/awareness. Some exercises will be “Skates On”, to better mimic the exact alignment, foot and ankle stability.
Pre-licensed Therapist & Mental Performance Coach
Designed for parents and coaches of athletes, this workshop provides insight into the unique mental health landscape facing today's young athletes. Learn to recognize signs of struggle, understand generational differences in mental health awareness and help-seeking, and create supportive environments. It includes practical guidance on having conversations about mental health, when to seek professional support, and how to balance high expectations with psychological safety.
Skate Canada Figure Skating Coach
Figure skating – specific class focusing on plyometrics, agility, coordination and balance as well as jump and spins technique and variations. From general jumping and agility drills for overall skills to then continue into more detail-oriented progressions developed to offer clear and meticulous technical skills for each jump and spin element. This class will help polish every jump and spin positioning, which will benefit skaters resulting into more refined movements and higher grades of execution.
Personal Trainer
Resistance and cardio muscular training sessions offering sport-specific drills and exercise variations.
This class will offer various progressions and variations of exercises geared towards building strength and endurance specifically for figure skaters. Designed to build, muscles mass, resistance, awareness and control while targeting all areas of the body that require specific attention in Figure skating training.
Performance Nutrition Coach
In this workshop, we'll break down the most common mindset challenges figure skaters face - like overthinking, fear of mistakes, inconsistency - and how they show up on the ice. You'll learn a simple, powerful framework to understand how your thoughts impact your performance, and how to shift them in a way that leads to more confidence, consistency, and better results.
Active Flexibility Specialist
Flexibility sessions designed specifically for the needs of figure skaters. These classes involve a mix of dynamic stretches, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and other techniques of active flexibility designed to help skaters increase their range of motion, improve their performance, reduce muscle soreness and recovery time and reduce risk of injury.
