BALLET FOR FIGURE SKATERS
Laura Carolina Morelli
PRACTITIONER AND TEACHER OF BALLET FOR FIGURE SKATERS

Lesson on the fundamentals of classical Vaganova ballet methodology, adapted to the needs of figure skaters. This session is focused on correcting posture and alignment, learning biomechanically sound movement patterns and proper muscular activation/awareness. Some of the exercises will be done with "Skates On" – and skating guards – on dry land, to better mimic the exact alignment, foot and ankle stability that skaters will need when training similar exercises on ice. This class differs from regular ballet as it offers exercises and progressions that are sport-specific and directly correlate to on ice elements by adjusting ballet technique to the unique needs of figure skaters.
